Day 1: Johannesburg

Welcome to South Africa !

Arrive in Johannesburg from your International flight. You will be met and assisted through Immigration and Customs and with the collection of your luggage by a masked ground handler who will ensure that the necessary Covid-19 health & safety protocols and social distancing is adhered to. Proceed to the arrivals hall where you will be welcomed by an Africa Inscribed Guest Experience Manager whom will accompany you on a short walk across to the hotel.

On arrival, you will complete check in procedures which will include (but not limited to) sanitising procedures, guest temperatures being taken and filling out of track and trace forms.  

Check in and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Please note the following COVID-19 protocols will be exercised during your stay and on Safari: Guest temperatures will be taken daily, luggage will be disinfected before and after handling; your dedicated team will have their temperatures checked daily, will practice strict hygiene / sanitation and physical distancing and will  be wearing a mask. Transfer/touring and game drive vehicles will be cleaned and disinfected between each use. Sanitisers will be strategically positioned and on hand at all times.

Days 2 - 4: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.

± 8:00am: Following check out, you will be met in the hotel reception and escorted back to the terminal building where you will board a scheduled flight to Skukuza Airport, departing at ± 10:00am.

± 11:00pm: Upon arrival at the Skukuza Airport, collect your luggage and proceed to the arrivals hall where you will be met and transferred with fellow guests to Lion Sands River Lodge.

Check in, freshen up and enjoy lunch and an early afternoon at leisure, prior to departing on your afternoon wildlife activity with a stop for sundowners as the sun sets over your first day in the African bushveld.

Your days here will be spent exploring the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve through morning and afternoon / evening game drives in the company of your local ranger & tracker team.

Day 5: Cape Town

After your early morning activity and breakfast, you will transfer back to the Skukuza Airport where you will board a scheduled flight to Cape Town, departing at ± 11:40am.

± 2:25pm: Upon arrival at the Cape Town Airport, you will be met by your Africa Inscribed local specialist guiding host and transferred to Cape Cadogan Hotel.

Settle in and enjoy the evening at your leisure.

Day 6: Cape Town

± 9:00am: This morning you will meet your local specialist guiding host in the hotel lobby for a full day Cape Peninsula experience, including breathtaking drives along the Cape coastline, a visit to the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve to see the most South – Westerly point of the African continent followed by a trip to Boulders Beach to visit the African Penguin Colony.

Whilst visiting the Cape of Good Hope, there is a short hiking opportunity from the parking area to the upper lighthouse for those who wish to stretch their legs. (approx. 40 to 60 minutes).

We highly recommend stopping at The Foodbarn in Noordhoek for lunch followed by dessert at Kirsten's homemade ice cream (for own account).

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon for an evening at leisure.

Table Mountain Cableway Table Mountain Robben Island

Day 7: Cape Town

± 8:00am: After breakfast, you again leave in the company of your local guiding host in the direction of Table Mountain. Pass through the Bo-Kaap formerly known as the Malay Quarter. It is a former township, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is a historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town. Take a couple shots of the colorful houses, enjoy a samoosa and chilli bite and then depart for Table Mountain for a privately guided visit and the most magnificent views from the top.

Descend via cableway where your guide and vehicle will be waiting to take you on a Cape Winelands Experience. Your guiding host will suggest wine estates based on your personal preferences and may include wine tastings and pairings. Tastings are also not limited to wine and guests may enjoy a selection of cheese, chocolate, craft beer, preserves, ice cream, coffee and all things artisan. The day is flexible for you to enjoy and you may linger longer or less - whatever your preference.

Lunch will be enjoyed on route, suggested by your local guide (for your own account).

Your day concludes as you return to your accommodation for an evening at leisure.

Table Mountain Tour Cape Dutch Architecture

Day 8: Nairobi

± 11:30am: Your local specialist guiding host will collect you for your private transfer back to the Cape Town Airport where you will check in for your scheduled flight to Nairobi (you will fly via Livingstone for a fuel stop but you will not be required to disembark the aircraft), departing at ± 2:20pm.

± 10:05pm: Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be met and assisted with customs and immigration formalities and onto a private transfer to the Hemingways Hotel (travel time roughly 40 minutes depending on traffic).

Check in and enjoy a good nights rest.

Days 9 - 11: Masai Mara

After breakfast and check-out, you will meet your local driver in reception before transferring to Nairobi's domestic Wilson Airport, where you will board a scheduled light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara, Richard's River Camp.

At the connecting airstrip, you will be met by your ranger and transferred to the camp to settle in and enjoy lunch.

In the late afternoon, you will depart on an evening game activity.

Your full days here will be spent on early morning and late afternoon game drives exploring this game rich area for Africa's famous array of wildlife. Other activities include bush walks and cultural visits. As as optional add on your may wish to take to the sky in a Hot Air Balloon and admire the vast land below. 

Although all efforts are made for guests to encounter the migration, sightings are not guaranteed as the animal movements are subject to weather patterns and thus subject to change.

Days 12 - 13: Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip to board a scheduled light aircraft flight to Wilson Airport, Nairobi departing at ± 11:00am.

± 12:20pm: Upon your arrival you will be met and privately transferred by road to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be assisted to check in for a scheduled flight to Kigali, Rwanda, departing at ± 3:35pm.

± 4:00pm: Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be met and assisted through Rwandan Customs and Immigration formalities, from here you will be assisted to check in for your helicopter flight to Sabyinyo Silverback lodge (flight time is roughly 25 mins depending on weather).

Due to weight restrictions, your luggage will transfer by road and arrive in the early evening along with your local guide and driver.

Check in and enjoy the evening at leisure as you prepare for the next days event.

The  following day will be spent on one of the most incredible experiences of your life... Gorilla trekking.

An early start as you have a quick breakfast before departing for the park office.

Upon arrival you may enjoy a cup of Rwandan coffee whilst your local guide confirms which Gorilla family group you will be allocated. After a briefing on safety and gorilla trekking etiquette, you'll be driven to the start of the trail to reach your mountain gorilla group. Once you have found the Gorilla family, you will spend a magical hour observing them as they go about their daily life; feeding, playing, resting and raising their young.

Trek back to base where your local guide will be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for a well deserved shower and lunch.

If you are still feeling fresh, an afternoon village visit, school visit or a visit to the Twin Lakes can be arranged for you, depending on your interests. 

Evening will be at leisure.

Day 14: End of Itinerary

After a leisurely morning , you will be privately transferred back to Kigali. Embark on a tour of Kigali City including the genocide memorial as well as some of the excellent local markets.

At a time determined by your departure flight you will be transferred to the airport where you will check in for your international flight homewards. 

Depart homewards after an unforgettable Southern & Eastern Africa Safari, Cape Town and Mountain Gorilla experience.
